Jog Tideswell

Posted: March 20th, 2013 | Author: | Filed under: Running Club | No Comments »

Jog Derbyshire is coming to Tideswell, with the launch of a new group aimed at people who have not tried running before or who have not run for a long time.

Personal trainer Paul Weir will lead the new group and wants to share his love of running with others as part of Jog Derbyshire – the county-wide initiative that introduces jogging to people who currently do little physical activity.

As owner of Sweat and Smile, a mobile personal training business in the Peak District, Paul has experience working with people who have never run before right through to international runners, and has also competed at national and regional level himself.

42-year-old Paul has trained as a volunteer Jog Derbyshire Leader, and has already launched a successful group in Buxton. Now he plans to launch a group in Tideswell and is also hoping to set up a group in Hope Valley shortly.

He said: “Like Buxton, the new groups are aimed at people who live locally and are designed primarily for beginners although all are welcome.”The new group will meet in Tideswell, outside the Co-op, every Saturday at 8.30am, starting on August 28. The cost is £2 per session, to cover running costs.

To find out more about the group or register your interest contact Paul on 07914817073 or sweatandsmile@googlemail.com Paul would also like to hear from anyone who would be interested in joining a group in Hope Valley.

Fantastic news for Tideswell

We’ve done it!  Tideswell is through to the next round of the Village SOS Big Lottery/BBC scheme aimed at helping six village develop both jobs and community life.  It’s across the press today (11th November) and more detail can be found on the news pages of the Taste Tideswell web site.

The timetable from now on is busy – the search is on for a Village Champion, an outside consultant who’ll work with us to ensure the schemes success and then in March we need to submit our revised and fully costed plans to The Village SOS committee.  In May we hear whether we are one of six village across the UK to win.  Exciting times.

If you’re interested in getting involved contact the team at info@tastetideswell.co.uk
